Hemp, Nut & Cacao Balls

Well, following the past hemp diary insights; a CBD oil and hemp seed overview, where we established the strong positivity of the intake, towards mental and nutritional health. It’s time to show you a solid, tasty, speedy recipe that you can store in the fridge for weeks, to energy boost you whenever needed.

The Hemp, Nut & Cacao Balls. So worth it.

A mini effort for a big reward.

Hemp seeds are technically a nut and come from the hemp plant which is the same species as the cannabis plant but a different variety. They are high in protein and the two essential amino acids omega 6 and omega 3.

They also contain gamma-linolenic acid, all of which contribute to am anti-inflammatory diet. Other important nutrients are vitamin E, poyassium, magnesium, sulphur, calcium, iron and zinc.

I love it just thrown on or in salads; grained salads are a good one with buckwheat, or even as a beautiful sprinkle to decorate a cake. I think I last had it sprinkled on a porridge… or was it thrown on the cocoa hazelnut spread on toast.

Anyway! Getting back to the happy balls!

Dates, despite their very sweet taste have a low glycaemic index (i.e. slow release of their sugars). This is due to their high fibre content. The sugar not only nutrifies you, but spreads the momentary energy high you get from white sugar to last. More like a hike or marathon in comparison to a sprint. Good maintenance of energy for the day.
